International Travel Advisory

For Authorised Persons – International SOS Programme

What You Need to Know as Authorised Persons

Authorised Persons or also known as APs are International SOS’ first point of contact during an emergency or overseas event that impacts the University’s travelling Staff/Students. They are authorised on behalf of the University to approve assistance services as recommended by International SOS.

What does an AP’s role entail?
  • Being a key part of the decision-making process
  • Being contactable at all times (24 by 7)
  • Assessing and agreeing a plan of action with input from International SOS
  • Acknowledging and approving the costs associated with delivering a plan of action. The approval limits is defined in the International Travel Risk Policy

For more information about the AP’s role, refer to the International Travel Risk Policy, Appendix B or contact ormc@nus.edu.sg.

Who am I responsible for?

Student Travellers

The department APs are responsible for student travellers that are participating in any overseas programme approved by the department.

Staff Travellers

Usually, the department which approved the overseas trip is responsible for the department. In cases which the approving department is different from the Staff’s department, the approving department is responsible for assigning the duty of care. OHR APs will work with the relevant department to manage any assistance case involving staff.
