The Steps in the sections are condensed information of the various Stages in the Policy Document Development Process as documented in the University Policy Framework (UPF). When in doubt, please refer to the UPF.

Note: Policy Documents can be classified into one of the three Policy Types or a mix of Types (e.g. Policy & Procedures):

1. Policy – Mandatory statements of general principles which specify the University’s position on specific matters
2. Procedures – Mandatory statements of processes, steps and/or actions required for the implementation of Policy Document statements
3. Guidelines – Discretionary advisory and explanatory statements that seek to assist implementation and compliance with Policies and Procedures by providing recommended best practices

Policy Owners are encouraged to consider the user experience of reading the Policy Document to determine whether the Policy Document should remain as one overall document or split into different documents.
